Hydroseeding is the process of combining seed, mulch, fertilizer, and
healthy soil amendments with water to mix in a HydroSeeder® tank to form
a thick slurry. This slurry is applied with pressure to the surface for
seed germination and turf development.
The first HydroSeeder was invented by Charles Finn in
1953, and trademarked thereafter, to efficiently shoot seed and fertilizers
over broad areas. This invention was more than a product innovation- it
was the seed that grew and entirely new industry of turf and erosion control
contractors. Hydroseeding is now used throughout the world, arriving in
the United Kingdom in the 1960s.
